I got my first Tarot deck, that standard Rider Waite, when I was about 15 or 16. I mean, I went out and consciously acquired the deck and the book, and I fooled around with it for a while, but I don’t think I was ready for it. I do remember being intensely curious about the tarot, and I learned a bit about it when I was fooling around. I lent the deck to my oldest girlfriend, and it was never seen again, so that ended my curiosity for a long time.
Now I find I want to get back into it, especially since there’s an official Orisha Tarot deck. I saw the book detailing the deck and how it works, at the Afrikan Kultural Bookshop at the corner of Green Corner and Park St, in PoS last week. I didn’t see the point in buying the book without the deck to learn on, so I added them to my wishlist, since Amazon.com has it in stock.
I think this is one, I will hunt down and make sure I acquire, because I think it would be a useful tool in my search for truth, strength and wisdom.
I found a great review of the deck, by Michele Jackson. Check it out.
